What is the Root Chakra?
The Root Chakra, also known as the 1st Chakra, governs our connection to the universe. It is the station of stability, security and related to our basic survival needs – food, water, shelter, clothes – as well as monetary support. When our root chakra is healthy, we experience a sense of serenity, confident that all our core survival needs will be definitely met.
A balanced 1st Chakra motivates us to be healthy (eat, sleep, rest) and procreate. It helps with our feeling of security and allows us to be well-grounded, centered, relaxed, physically strong and stable.
The Root Chakra becomes imbalanced when it’s triggered by a traumatic event. The imbalance may manifest itself as stress, anxiety, depression, impatience, overall weakness and feeling scattered.
It’s important to remember that all our chakras are in constant flux: Sometimes they’re open and at times blocked and everything in between. A reminder that we are all having a human experience!
